You're a scientist...
A: Why do you still go to church?
Me: Not every person believes everything preached in Catholic mass, but more sees the bigger picture. I see death all to frequently, and believe there has to be something more than 'here and now'. Besides I like the community factor.
A: But religions are allergic to homos. This conversation has sobered me right up...
Me: I believe homos would not have been made so adorable if we were undesired. And it's 1 in the afternoon, how are you drunk already?
A: You're a scientist; what does this cup of coffee plus the contents of this Bailey's bottle equal? *pulls bottle from purse*
Me: ...1pm drunkenness?
A: What does your religious view think about that?
Me: ...it thinks there is way too much 'wrong' in this conversation.

Many Lives, Many Masters
A few years ago, I stumbled across Many Lives, Many Masters from an ‘additional reading’ list from a psych course I took.  Apparently I was over zealous, and I found myself with this book.  It came at a good time, and paved the way to better define beliefs I often had a hard time outlining. The book talks about spiritual life being a form of energy, energy being recycled...

Love em' or Hate em'
Via text tonight, a friend and I were playing ‘love it, or hate it’- celebrity edition.  (‘a game of black and white; no grey, just like life’)  Rules are simple, a name is given, and you state one single reason why you either love, or hate them. Somehow the game got shifted into various hypotheticals of, ‘if you were straight’, ‘if you were gay’,...

A good good day.
O. M. Goodness.  Today has been amazing.  One hour in particular was exceptional. I got out the door a little earlier, my iPod knew just what music to play to keep me hoppin’ as I traveled the train to see a new doctor (to talk about this ‘vertigo’ issue of mine that I’ve had for roughly two years).  Outside of the ‘we can run some tests’ crap, I actually...

Random thoughts during State of the Union
~John Roberts reminds me of George Dubbs, and it wrenches my stomach a little. ~Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a tiny little pocket person.  Can her feet reach the pedals in the car?  Is she legally permitted to drive?  Ahh, probably not, look at those glasses…I think she’s legally blind.  Yeah, her license definitely was revoked. ~Look how Sonia Sotomayor strolls down that aisle like...

WatchWatch
GPOYW- ‘this is actually a video and not a picture’ edition. I was enthralled when I found this file on my recovery disk today.  For one battle of a bands competition, my old band had to have a video element.  So we patched together videos from the night we recorded a song.  Even though this was the preliminary video, and not the final one we submitted, it’s a great thing to...

Mark: I hate it that Big D's boyfriend is kind of cute. Big D is engaged to a cute guy, and I am single. FML. Life is clearly unfair.
Me: But it helps that he has a mental illness.
Mark: Yes, the fact that he is functionally retarded does provide some consolation.
Me: Maybe the universe does have some balance.
Mark: Maybe that's been my problem all this time: I avoided dating the mentally challenged.

Where'd I put the keys?
So if my goal is to run the Williamsburg Bridge, 100 N-S blocks, and back…how far is that?  I’ll look it up when I get back…it’s my goal for right now.  I know there is a marathon beast imprisoned inside of me, waiting to be set free…I just need to find the keys to unlock the door. …perhaps the keys are hidden somewhere in the 1am hour, yes? *update: so I...

leothegreat: exceptforthisone: Holy Torrential Downpour Batman! Of course I would choose TODAY of all days to construct a pompadour and wear denim on denim. Am currently soaked, in my underwear, on the floor of my bedroom, miserable. And today I decided to wear a linen button down, to go with the slightly warmer weather.  However, I need to read the full forecast before making outfit...

Am I being teased?
Get this: Irene and I were on our nightly walk, (no, she was still not ‘getting it’) and I walked by my bike.  SERIOUSLY!  It’s two blocks away from where I am staying, under new lock and key.  …I wish I knew how to steal it from those schmucks who stole it from me. I am actually more upset that I know where the bike is!!!

...and not in the good way.
So…my first week here… My bike was stolen.  Which would upset me more, but my old bike was stolen the 2nd day I was in Boston, when I moved there.  At least this bike was not upwards of 700$ like the last one, and was bought in a used bike store for under 30$.  The thing that puzzles me with this happening, now a second time, is wondering how truly incompetent with bike locks I am....

I too, had a dream.
Tuesday morning, I woke to relive a dream from the past night.  ‘Relive’ as in- ‘recalling all the details of aforementioned dream, and not experiencing the events in real life, because then, it would be AMAZING really fucked up’.  Since the partner in my dream was my Bestie from the Westie, Angela, I felt the need to share it on her facebook wall…in addition to...

Your people...
J: How's your knee?
Me: It still hurts, but it's less swollen.
J: What are your plans for the night?
Me: Well, I'm going to do a little line dancing, then run a 10K, then just jump up and down really hard for about an hour.
J: Why do your people always go to sarcasm first?

I am about to grab the last few things, and hit the road to get this move finalized.  I’m a little nervous.  There is a full day ahead of me.  Sadness from leaving. (sidenote: I dropped Heather off at work yesterday morning, and some of the people I met during my stay in Pittsburgh were sad with my departure.  Kelly, Colin, and a few others just have known me for a little over a month, tears...

Sorry, had to mow the lawn.
Doctor: Please tell me someone else sees this patient's tattoo over her pubic region.
Me: Um, yes...'please keep off grass'...how could it be overlooked?
Doctor: That would explain why her pubic hair is dyed green.
Nurse: I will prep her for the surgery.
Doctor: Can someone please note in the patient's chart, 'someone will have to explain that we had to 'mow the lawn''?
Me: *pen in hand*...sooooo, is that a real notation, or verbal jest?

What you are telling me, what I am hearing...
Me: For a non hormonal option, this Rx is the best. You should know it has some side affects.
Patient: like?
Me: Irregular menstrual cycles.
Patient: meaning?
Me: Well. They could just be a few days, and come less frequently. Or they could be lighter days prolonged over time you are not use to for a cycle. Between 2-9 weeks is seen in a slim percentile of patients.
Patient: What you are telling me, what I am hearing is that you want to write down a medicine, and send me skipping to the pharmacist, who will give me this medication, which I will take and cause myself to bleed constantly!?
Me: I never said it was without flaw, but if you want something nonhormonal, and avoid having an 'oh no-es baby', it's the best.
Patient: I see...WRITE IT UP! I've got some skipping to do.

When the White Horse is out of the Shop.
Recently the question/exaltation has been asked a lot of me lately, ‘why are you not with someone?!’  For the longest time, I blamed it on various factors, from ‘I’m scared’, to ‘I’m emotionally healing’ to ‘I’m too busy’  to ‘why would someone want to be with me?’.  However, I actually feel good about the topic...
